Mikuyu Tanzania Operations Team
The UK team works as a family, with all encouraged to participate and contribute equally. None of us 'clock watch' because we believe in what we are doing - and we love seeing the changes that result from our work.
Julian Page - Managing Director
Julian is the founder of MTz and its Director. He earned a Masters degree in International Development from Westminster University, London, which provided the inspiration for establishing MTz. Julian brings many years of management experience in facilities and catering management to the day-to-day operations of MTz. His Quaker values and passion to bring about positive change in a peaceful way provides his motivation. In 2018 Julian received the prestigious “Social Impact Award” from the Alumni of Westminster University for his work in Tanzania.
Abdallah Njayagha - Programmes Manager
Abdallah has gained his vast experience working with Raleigh International Tanzania where he specialised in strategy, project management and youth development before moving into the education field. He also has experience in WASH. Abdallah joined the team in January 2023
Lyndsey McLellan - Partnerships Officer
Lyndsey has many years’ experience working in the International Development and asylum world, including fundraising, communications, donor stewardship and CRM database systems. She has a degree in Development Studies and a masters in public health nutrition. She joined the MTz team in January 2022 on a part time basis.
Giampiero Giacomel - Partnerships Officer
Giampiero has extensive experience in fundraising in different fields ranging from education to international development. He has experience as a fundraiser in the UK, Switzerland and Italy. He is also a lecturer of fundraising and philanthropy in a number of universities such as SUPSI in Switzerland and Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore in Italy. He joined the team in January 2025.

Clive Shiret
Clive is the Chairman of MTz and a co-founder. He is responsible for our governance, general management, and accounting matters. Clive’s background is in the service sector, where he started, grew, and sold various businesses. Clive is also engaged with the development of “Wellbeing at Garon Park”
David Higham
David is a chartered accountant with over 30 years’ international experience in the travel trade and environmental consulting, most recently working at the Carbon Trust where he is particularly proud of his contribution to work increasing renewable energy access for FCDO, and leading energy efficiency equipment financing programmes, supporting the UK’s transition to a low carbon economy. David joined the team in June 2022 as our Treasurer.
Tom Wills
Tom first came to Babati as a volunteer in 2009 and has since returned as a volunteer leader. Between time, he gained a degree from Cambridge University in History before joining the civil service.
Tom works as a specialist policy and advocacy adviser - skills that he also brings to MTz.
Tom is our Safeguarding Lead.
Amy Fowler Mitchell
Amy joined the board in June 2022 as a trustee with fundraising expertise. Amy's background is in sustainable funding and impact, she primarily works with international organisations working towards gender equality and equity in education. Amy holds an MA in International Relations and is currently based in Tanzania. She is passionate about the arts and is also a trustee of The Opera Story.
Alix Wootten
Alix came to Babati in 2009 as a team leader and later joined MTz as an intern while we developed our early marketing and social networking strategies. Since then, Alix has worked for several excellent charities in a fundraising capacity, and she brings her experience to MTz.
Gem Clark
Gem first came to Babati in 2012 as a Quest Overseas Team Leader, and again later for Inspire Worldwide whilst completing an MA in Social Development, and was inspired by Mtz’s commitment to participatory development and long term partnership. Since then, Gem has lived/worked in Malawi supporting community based education and health programmes, and now works in fund management with Mannion Daniels, providing quality assurance and technical support to CSOs through FCDO’s challenge funds, UK Aid Match and Aid Direct. Gem joined the team in February 2024
Carolyn Hyde
Carolyn joined the team in January 2022 as our Trustee with oversight for human resources. She brings 35 years’ HR experience in a range of industries and is a doer and problem solver. Carolyn has been a passionate supporter since 2016 and truly believes in MTz’s work and how we work. Carolyn also volunteers with the National Trust.
Special Advisor Group
Meg Edwin
Meg joined us in January 2023 as a trustee with capacity building and communications expertise. Meg is an award-winning storyteller who has been utilizing strategic communications for over 10 years to help make stories more powerful and impactful. She is a passionate advocate for youth development and empowerment. Meg is also a volunteer on multiple boards in development organisations and was honoured with a Gold Award by the UK Chevening Secretariat for her contribution to volunteering activities in the UK. Presently, she is employed as a Communication Analyst at UNCDF in Addis Ababa.
In January Meg moved to the special advisory group to offer advice and guidance as we grow.
Impact Lead Tanzania
We work very closely with a Babati based delivery partner called Impact Lead Tanzania (ILT). They are a separate organisation registered as an NGO in Tanzania in their own right. They have their own Board who look after the Governance and oversite of the work undertaken.
Yohana Jastin Director
Yohana worked for Maisha Capacity Development opportunity from Feb 2014 to January 2025 when he then joined ILT as their director. He was born in Babati and has significant social capital within the community and well respected. He manages relationships with regional town ward community and school leaders. Yohana is a qualified Street Business School coach, runs the health awareness and hand washing training projects. He has also received training on WASH from Water Aid.
